Psychotherapy in Barrie & NewmarketOur Therapy Services
Psychotherapy can help you navigate through many of life’s challenges. It provides a supportive, compassionate environment that allows you to safely explore your inner world, identify and express feelings, challenge thought patterns and change behaviours that may be keeping you stuck.
Many children and teens struggle with problems that can impact their mental and emotional well-being. Difficulties can often interfere with their ability to navigate daily. If your child or teen is struggling, therapy can be a safe space to process their thoughts and emotions and learn skills to help them cope.

At Grace North, our mission is to normalize conversations around mental health, vulnerability, and the imperfections of being human. We strive to create a safe and welcoming space where people feel comfortable expressing their emotions and discussing their struggles without fear of judgment or shame. We believe in empowering individuals to achieve their mental health goals through collaboration and evidenced-based therapy.
Collaboration, Competency, Compassion, and Client-focused Care.
Collaboration: We work with you to navigate your challenges, share insights and cultivate skills for improved mental health and emotional well-being.
Competency: we are committed to professional growth and development to ensure the quality of service and evidence-based care to all those accessing service
Client-focused: Our clients are at the heart of everything we do. We are invested in you and your mental health and work to ensure you feel seen, heard and understood.
Compassionate: We strive to create a safe and supportive space for our clients to work through their mental health challenges alongside one of our compassionate and caring therapists.
Our practice is designed to recognize the widespread impact of trauma on individuals while creating a safe and supportive environment for healing. Trauma-informed care acknowledges that many people have experienced various forms of trauma, whether it’s related to past abuse, violence, loss, or other distressing experiences. Grace North seeks to create an atmosphere of respect, compassion, and sensitivity, with the ultimate goal of supporting clients as they work through the impact of trauma and move toward healing and recovery.
The Modalities We Use
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): A goal-oriented approach that helps you identify and change negative thought patterns to improve your emotions and behaviours.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): A comprehensive method that combines cognitive and mindfulness techniques to manage intense emotions and enhance interpersonal skills.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): A mindfulness-based strategy that empowers you to accept your thoughts and feelings while committing to your values.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): A trauma-focused technique utilizing bilateral stimulation to process distressing memories and alleviate their emotional impact.
Narrative Therapy: A collaborative process that explores and reshapes your stories, promoting personal growth and resilience.
Psychodynamic Therapy: Delving into unconscious thoughts and experiences, this approach helps uncover how past influences impact present emotions and behaviours.
Attachment-based Therapy: Focused on relationship patterns, this method aims to enhance healthy attachments and address challenges stemming from early bonding experiences.
Mindful Self-Compassion: Nurturing a kind and mindful relationship with oneself to promote emotional well-being and resilience.
Emotionally Focused Therapy: a therapeutic approach that focuses on reshaping emotional bonds within relationships to foster security, connection, and healing.
We believe that mental health support should be accessible to all those seeking support. We understand that one of the main reasons people can’t access care is due to cost; without benefits, therapy can be expensive. That’s why at Grace North, we are committed to providing reduced fees and by-donation services offered through our therapy internship program. More on this to come! But for now, contact us if you feel this would be a good fit for you!
